This invention is directed to a novel process for making Group I I metalncarbonated, overbased Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols, nwhich process uses ethylene carbonate as both a source of carbon dioxidenand ethylene glycol. In particular, under the reaction conditions usingnethylene carbonate in the present invention, carbonation and overbasingnMannich condensation products of alkylphenols is possible while at the samentime the viscosity of the carbonated, overbased Mannich condensationnproducts of alkylphenols remains within acceptable levels, typically undern1000 cSt at 100°C. The present invention is also directed to carbonation ofnMannich condensation products of alkylphenols using a C 2 -C 6 alkaline glycolnand carbon dioxide. The present invention is also directed to a detergent-dispersantnantioxidant additive composition comprising Group II metalncarbonated, overbased Mannich condensation products of alkylphenols, nwherein the Group II metal carbonated, overbased Mannich condensationnproducts of alkylphenols have a CO 2 to Ca ratio of at least 0.01. |
