abstract The invention provides novel adamantane derivatives useful as modifiers or dry etching resistance improvers for photolithographic photoresists, intermediates for agricultural chemicals or drugs, or other various industrial chemicals; and a process for producing the same. Namely, the invention relates to halogenoacetoxyadamantane derivatives having halogeno- acetoxy on the adamantane skeleton; and a process for the production of halogenoacetoxyadamantane derivatives which comprises introducing a halogenoacetoxy group to adamantane either by reacting a hydroxyl group on adamantane skeleton with a halogenoacetyl halide or by converting such a hydroxyl group with a lithiating agent into a lithium-oxy group and then reacting the lithium-oxy group with a halogenoacetyl halide.
