| abstract | A connector (30), usable to securely couple first and second tubular devices to one another, includes first and second fittings (22, 24) cooperating with the first and second tubular devices, respectively. The second fitting (24) includes first and second components (30, 32) that are sequentially connectable to the first fitting (22) only through distinctly different motions to provide a redundant, secure connection. For example, the first fitting (22) may include a first set of left-handed threads and a second set of right-handed threads, and the components (30 and 32) of the second fitting may have corresponding left-handed and right-handed threads. The connector (30) is well-suited for connecting two tubular medical devices to one another. |
