The present invention provides a dry solid medium fornstoring a sample of a genetic material, including RNA andnDNA, in a form suitable for subsequent analysis. The drynsolid medium of the invention includes a dry solid matrix andna composition including a protein denaturing agent, and anchelating agent. The dry solid medium can further include ancomponent which functions in subsequent analysis of thengenetic material using, for example, PCR, reversentranscriptase initiated PCR, LCR, RFLP, or geneticnhybridization. A component for subsequent analysis includes,nfor example, a nucleotide sequences such as a primer, DNA ornRNA probe, and a target sequence stabilizer. The dry solidnmedium can also include a retaining agent to enhancenretention of a component for subsequent analysis. Theninvention also provides methods for using the dry solidnmedium of the invention. The dry solid media and methods ofnuse thereof are particularly suited for use in automatednsystems. |
