A branched tetrasiloxane is prepared by preforming anliquid mixture of a disiloxane compound, an alcohol and annacid catalyst, adding a trialkoxysilane compound to thenmixture for reaction, and adding water to the reactionnmixture for co-hydrolysis, thereby forming a branchedntetrasiloxane. The method is capable of preparing a branchedntetrasiloxane, especially methyltris(trimethylsiloxy)silanenhaving a sufficiently high purity to use as cosmetic oil inngood yields. |
