abstract |
A carbon black that ensures long-term storage stability and reduced clogging tendency and further enables high-OD deep black printing; or a carbon black for use in a water base ink that is used in printing by an inkjet printer, ensuring low sedimentation tendency, long-term storage stability and reduced clogging tendency and that can realize high-reflection-density deep black printing of high printing density; a carbon black dispersion liquid wherein the carbon black is dispersed; and a water base ink containing the same. One form of the modified carbon black is one obtained by oxidizing carbon black of 11 to 18 nm primary particle diameter, at least 180 m2/g BET specific surface area, at least 180 mL/100 g DBP oil absorption and 0.75 to 1.3 BET specific surface area (m2/g) per DBP oil absorption (mL/100 g), characterized in that at least lactone and carboxyl groups are introduced in the surface thereof and that the ratio of average particle diameter to primary particle diameter is 8.5 or greater. There are further provided a carbon black dispersion liquid and water base ink wherein the above modified carbon black is contained. |
