Vertical cavity laser including inorganic spacer layers |
abstract |
A vertical cavity laser light producing device includes a substrate (20);na bottom dielectric stack (30) reflective to light over a predetermined range ofnwavelengths; and an active region (40) for producing laser light. The device alsonincludes a top dielectric stack (50) spaced from the bottom dielectric stack (30) andnreflective to light over a predetermined range of wavelengths; and the activenregion (40) includes one or more periodic organic gain region(s) (100) and inorganic spacernlayers (110) disposed on either side of the periodic organic gain region(s) (100) and arrangednso that the periodic organic gain region(s) (100) is aligned with the antinodes of thendevice's standing wave electromagnetic field. |
