abstract The present invention relates to a process for dryingna wet porous membrane structure. According to the presentninvention, a wet porous membrane structure is provided, saidnporous membrane structure including pores, whereby said poresnof said porous membrane structure at least partially arenfilled with a solution of a water soluble chemical in an organicnor inorganic solvent, followed by controlled dryingnsaid porous membrane structure while at least a portion ofnsaid solution of said water soluble chemical in said organicnor inorganic solvent remains within said pores of said membranenstructure upon drying. Permeability of the said drynmembrane is the same as that of the wet membrane. Furthermore,nthe instant invention deals with a porous membranenstructure in the form of a sheet, a hollow fiber (single ornmulti channel) or a tube and the like.
