The invention relates to a composite comprising a zeolite (such as zeolite ZSM-5, zeolite-β and silicalite) which is deposited on a rigid support. The inventive composite is characterised in that said rigid support comprises a silicon carbide (SiC) having a BET specific surface area which is greater than 5 m2/g. Preferably, the support is a β-SiC foam having a specific surface area of between 10 and 500 m2/g. Said composite can be used as a catalyst or as a catalyst support for chemical reactions in a gaseous or liquid medium, for example, for the cracking, acylation, alkylation or isomerisation of hydrocarbons. |
