Methods for adsorbing toxic target chemical compounds are providednwherein such compounds (either as gases, liquids or solids)nare contacted with nanoscale oxide adsorbents, such asnMgO and CaO, preferably at ambient temperatures and at atmosphericnpressure. The preferred adsorbents have an averagenparticle size of from about 1-20 nm, and have a total porenvolume of at least about 0.5 cc/g. |
