abstract A laminated packaging material (10) comprising a core layer (11) and a barrier layer (14) formed from a liqueform composition comprising a dispersion or solution of a polymer, starch or starch derivative on one side of the core layer, the barrier layer also including particles of amorphous SiO2. According to the invention, said particles of amorphous SiO2 in colloidal particle size in said barrier layer are present in a content of above 40 weight % but below 80 weight %. The invention also relates to a packaging container which has been produced from the packaging material, as well as a method of producing the packaging material.
