Organic electroluminiscent device |
abstract |
An organic electroluminescent device that is capablenof changing the gradation of emitted light without changingnthe chromaticity of the light. The organicnelectroluminescent device according to the present inventionnhas an organic electroluminescent element and a drive unit.nThe organic electroluminescent element has a pair ofnelectrodes and an electroluminescent layer provided betweennthe electrodes. The electroluminescent layer contains atnleast two types of phosphorescent materials. Eachnphosphorescent material emits light the color of which isndifferent from the color of light emitted by the othernphosphorescent material. The drive unit is electricallynconnected to the organic electroluminescent element. Thendrive unit supplies to the organic electroluminescentnelement a current that has a modulated pulse width and anconstant amplitude, thereby causing the organicnelectroluminescent element to emit light. |
