abstract | The invention concerns a method for controlled growth of nanotubes or nanofibres on a substrate, characterized in that it further comprises producing a two-layered structure on the substrate (11), consisting of a layer of material catalyzing (71) nanotube or nanofibre growth and a layer of associated material, said associated material being such that it forms a non-catalytic alloy with the catalyzing material at high temperature. The invention also concerns a method for making a field-effect cathode using said method for making nanotubes or nanofibres. Said methods enable to localize very accurately catalyst blocks from which can be grown nanotubes and nanofibres and for making cathodes for which the nanotubes or nanofibres are self-aligned with the opening in the extraction grid. The invention is applicable to electronic tubes, nanolithography. |
