abstract |
Polymer particles (10) are provided having (1) a core (12) with anglass transition temperature within a range of -50° to +110°C and (2) a shell (14)nsurrounding the core (12). The core (12) comprises at least one layer, with thenlayer(s) comprising at least one polymerized hydrophobic monomer and,noptionally, a first cross-linker. The shell (14) comprises a copolymerized mixturenof least one hydrophobic monomer and at least one hydrophilic monomer and ansecond cross-linker for increasing thermal shear stability by forming cross-linkagesn(16). Use of these polymer particles (10) in aqueous-based ink-jet inksnprovide laser print quality without any secondary treatment. |
