abstract A crystal of carboxyl acid and at least one compoundnselected from the group consisting of amine and ammonianare mixed in an absence of a liquid medium. The carboxylnacid is conjugated diene such as (Z,Z)-muconic acid, thenconjugated diene including a carboxyl group. The at leastnone nitrogen-containing compound selected from thengroup consisting of amine and ammonia is primary aminenrepresented by RCH 2 NH 2 , where R is an aryl group, or is annormal alkyl group that contains five or more carbonnatoms. Moreover, such amine that is a bivalent group andnthat is represented by -Ar-N=N-Ar'-, where Ar and Ar' arenindependently aromatic hydrocarbon bivalent groups, isnintercalated in a layered crystal of a polymer such asnpolymuconic acid, the layered crystal including a carboxylngroup. In this way, a novel photoresponsive polymer isnobtaind. n Also obtained is a crystal of ammonium carboxylatenincluding at least one kind of carboxyl acid and at leastnone kind of amine, at least one kind of compound selectednfrom (i) the at least one kind of carboxyl acid and (ii) thenat least one kind of amine being a diacetylene derivative.nThe crystal of ammonium carboxylate is subjected to lightnor heat, to obtain a built-up type diacetylene polymer.
