abstract The blood treatment apparatus (101), comprising a filter (102) with first (103) and second (104) chambers separated by a semi-permeable membrane (105), arterial (106) and venous (108) lines, an air separator (111), a pre-infusion channel (109) for an anticoagulant, a purging channel (110) and post-infusion line (112), has an air detector (113) located downstream of post-infusion line. The apparatus has no other air separator after the detector, the separator (111) being the only one in the venous line and not having a detector. The venous line can have an occlusion element (114) such as a clamp downstream of the air detector, while the post-infusion line is located immediately upstream of it, but there is no line connector or injection zone in the venous line between the air detector and its connection to the patient.
