abstract |
An ultraviolet light source compriser an ultraviolet bulb (10) which is excitable by pulsed microwave energy and an enclosure (20) for enclosing the ultraviolet lamp (10), the enclosure (20) comprising an optically transparent waveguide (30). The optically transparent waveguide (30) wholly surrounds the bulb (10). The ultraviolet light source is particularly suitable for use in the sterilisation of substances.
