abstract | The invention relates to a chuck (1) for tools, especially screwdriver bits, which comprises a polygonal section (2) with a polygonal recess (3) for the polygonal section (3) to be inserted. The wall (4) of said polygonal recess (3) is provided with a window (5) in which a pressure piece (6) is disposed that can be displaced in the direction of insertion (E). Said pressure piece is impinged upon by an actuation member (7), disposed outside the window, in a tensioned state of the actuation member at an angle to the direction of insertion (E) against the polygonal section (2), thereby preventing it from being withdrawn. In a release position of the actuation member (7), the pressure piece can escape, thereby allowing the polygonal section (2) to be withdrawn from the polygonal recess (3). In order to improve chucks of the above-described kind, the pressure piece (6) is impinged upon by a pressure spring (8) that is effective against the direction of insertion (E), and can escape from the polygonal recess (3) when displaced against the direction of action of the spring. |
