titleOfInvention | Ink-jet printing systems and methods for extending air fade resistance of ink-jet prints |
abstract | The present invention is drawn to systems and methods for reducing airnfade of ink-jet inks, particularly with respect to dye-based ink-jet inks printed onnporous media. Specifically, a method of printing an image on porous media withnincreased air fade resistance can comprise the steps of (a) providing an ink-jetnink, wherein the ink-jet ink comprises a dye and a water-soluble or waterndispersable copolymer in a vehicle carrier; (b) providing a porous mediansubstrate having an inorganic porous media coating, wherein the inorganicnporous media coating provides voids for the ink-jet ink to fill; and (c) ink-jettingnthe ink-jet ink onto the porous media substrate, thereby providing an imagenhaving increased air fade resistance. In one embodiment, the copolymerncomprises acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid present at from 10% to 40% totalnsolids of the copolymer by weight, and at least one additional acrylic- ornmethacrylic-based monomer present in alone or in combination with othernacrylic- or methacrylic-based monomers at from 60% to 90% solids by weight. |
