abstract |
A wound treatment apparatus (10) has a vacuum bandage (28) covering a wound (22) of a patient, a vacuum source (110) coupled to the vacuum bandage (28), and a controller (20) that operates the vacuum source (110) to apply negative pressure to the wound (22) through the bandage (28) in a controlled manner. The controller (20) is programmed to limit the rate of change of the negative pressure applied to the wound (22). A caregiver has the ability to change one or more negative pressure setpoint values and the controller (20) of the wound treatment apparatus (10) controls the rate of change of the negative pressure to reduce patient discomfort. |
