High-absorbent polyvinyl alcohol fibers and nonwoven fabric comprising them |
abstract |
High-absorbent PVA fibers are provided inexpensively, nwhich have high absorbency and have good fiber propertiesnnecessary for producing fibrous structures such as nonwovennfabrics. The fibers are of a water-soluble PVA having ancrosslinking component introduced thereinto, and they satisfynthe following requirements:n (1) Their water absorption in water at 30°C is from 10nto 100 times; (2) The diameter of the fibers that are in water at 30?Cnto absorb water is from 2 to 10 times that of the fibers notnhaving absorbed water; (3) Their melting point is from 160 to 220°C, and theirnheat of fusion is from 40 to 100 J/g. |
