titleOfInvention | A new calcium phosphate cement composition and a method for the preparation thereof |
abstract | The invention describes a new calcium phosphate cement powder, whosencomposition can best be described over the Ca/P molar ratio range of 1.35nto 1.40, most preferably 1.39, and whose two components were prepared bynwet chemical synthesis procedures. One component is chemically-synthesized,nbi-phasic alpha-TCP (Ca 3 (PO 4 ) 2 , 95 wt%) + HAn(Ca 10 (PO 4 ) 6 (OH) 2 , 5 wt%) powder, while the second component is again anchemically-synthesized, single-phase DCPD (CaHPO 4 ·2H 2 O) powder. Ansetting solution (Na 2 HPO 4 ·2H 2 O) is used to form a self-setting calciumnphosphate cement from the powder mixture. This cement can be used asnbone filler or bone substitute in applications, which require higher rates ofnresorption. |
