abstract | Preparation of slug baits comprises: (1) mixing an amylaceous support, a dispersing agent, at least one preservative and a molluscicide in a turbo-mixer; (2) transferring the mixture into a worm screw extruder; (3) extruding the material via a die, in the form of granules and (4) cooling and sieving the obtained granules. Preparation of slug baits comprises: (1) mixing an amylaceous support, a dispersing agent, at least one preservative and a molluscicide in a turbo-mixer the speed of which is adjusted to increase the temperature of the mixture to 90[deg]C; (2) transferring the mixture as it is produced from the turbo-mixer into a worm screw extruder having three zones comprising a feed area, mixing area and plasticizing area, and a compression area in which the mixture is compressed to a temperature above 100[deg]C, the dwell time in the extruder being a few seconds; (3) extruding the material via a die, in the form of granules and (4) cooling and sieving the obtained granules.
