abstract |
A method for forming a phosphor screen comprising thenstep of forming a phosphor layer containing a thermoplasticnresin on the inner surface of a face plate, the step ofnpressurizing the phosphor layer being heated to plasticatenthe thermoplastic resin and smooth the surface of thenphosphor layer, and the step of forming a metal film on thensurface-smoothed phosphor layer and heating the face plate.nThermoplastic resin having a softening temperature of 50-350°Cncan be used in the phosphor layer, and 0.05-50 wt% ofnsuch a thermoplastic resin in solid content ratio isncontained in the layer. Heating/pressurizing conditionsnpreferably involve temperatures of 50-350°C and pressures ofn10-10000 N/cm 2 . This method enhances the film formingnproperty of a metal back layer and prevents cracks andnpinholes in the metal back layer. |
