abstract | Curable, aqueous coating compositions based on self-dispersing epoxy resin and water also contain 0.5-90 wt% polyol (meth)acrylate. Aqueous coating compositions (I) in which the curable components comprise (A) 0.5-90 wt% self-dispersing epoxy resin which is solid at 20 deg C; (B) 0.5-90 wt% polyol (meth)acrylate; (C) 5.0-99.0 wt% water; and (D) 0 or 0.1-3 wt% organic solvent. In these compositions, ester (B) has at least 2 reactable (meth)acrylic groups, the total amount of components (A)-(D) is 100 wt% and the Brookfield viscosity is less than 15000 mPa.s at 23 deg C. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the production of coatings by mixing (I) with (E) 1-200 wt% water-dilutable hardener (based on the amount of A) and (F) 0-90 wt% other additives and/or processing aids (based on the total amount of all components), then bringing the mixture to the required form and allowing it to harden. |
