| abstract | The invention concerns a method for directly inserting the lower end of at least a plant (6) in a receiving support (15) which consists in: mechanically maintaining said plant or said bunched plants (6), mechanically maintaining said receiving support (15), and automatically moving said plant or bunched plants (6) and said receiving support (15) relatively, to ensure automatic insertion of the lower end of said plant or plants into said support. The plant-receiving support can be in the form of a flower foam block (18); it can also be a holder-type container or even a block or lump of soil. The installation for implementing the method comprises receptacles (2) for the plants (6), a system (12) for cutting the plant stems to length (7), a pressing device (16) for maintaining the plants (6) on their receptacle (2), forks (22, 23) for guiding the base of the plants, and means (18, 20, 24, 26, 27) for inserting the base of the plants into the foam blocks (15). |
