| abstract |
The discovery that lanolin contains ceramides, albeit in small proportions, has madenit possible to obtain lanolin fractions with relative high contents of natural ceramidesnfrom wool. Said lanolin fractions have a moisturizing and protective activity in thenhuman skin that resembles at least that obtained with synthetic ceramides currentlynused in cosmetic and dermatological products to enhance the skin protective barriernfunction of the stratum corneum. Hence, said fractions can be used in thenpreparation of cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of thenhuman skin. |
