titleOfInvention HYDROGENATED STYRENOL POLYMER, METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND FORM BODY RECEIVED THEREOF
abstract A hydrogenated styrene polymer which has excellent transparency, is suitable for use in optical applications such as an optical-disk substrate, and is excellent in stability and transparency under wet heat conditions and in heat resistance; and a process for producing the polymer. The hydrogenated styrene polymer comprises 70 wt.% or more hydrogenated styrene units. The number of finely particulate foreign substances having a particle diameter of 0.2 to 0.5 νm, excluding 0.5 νm, contained in the hydrogenated styrene polymer is up to 1x106 per g of the polymer, and the amount of phosphorus atoms contained in the hydrogenated styrene polymer is up to 0.01 part by weight per 100 parts by weight of the polymer. The process comprises: filtering a hydrogenated styrene polymer 70 wt.% or more of which is accounted for by hydrogenated styrene units with a filter having a pore size of 0.3 νm or smaller at such a temperature that the solution has a viscosity of 10 Pa sec (100 P) or lower as measured at a shear rate of 1 (1/s); and then removing the solvent from the resultant filtrate.
