Hydrophilic microparticles and methods to prepare same |
abstract |
A method for obtaining a water-soluble microparticle with a non-zero net-ionicncharge, comprising: combining a first solution, said first solution comprising anpoorly-water-soluble organic substance dissolved in a suitable water-misciblenorganic solvent, with a second solution, said second solution comprising anpolyelectrolyte dissolved in a suitable aqueous solution, wherein said organicnsubstance comprises ionizable groups capable of imparting a net ionic charge, nwherein said polyelectrolyte comprises an ionic charge opposite to the net ionicncharge in the organic substance, to form said water-soluble microparticle with annet non-zero ionic charge in which the organic substance is ionically complexednwith a layer of the polyelectrolyte. Also provided are water-soluble microparticlesnobtainable by the claimed process, and stable colloidal solutions thereof. |
