abstract | A breast carcinoma detector comprising a translucent mamma pressing member (1) having a pressing face (4) being applied to the mamma of a subject such that the mamma pressed against the body can be observed from the side opposite to the pressing face (4), a light source means (2) for irradiating a range of the mamma applied with the pressing face (4) with light of a specified wavelength, and means (3) for picking up the image of the mamma through the mamma pressing member (1) and exhibiting sensitivity to the light from the mamma caused by the irradiation light from the light source means (2), characterized in that breast carcinoma is detected from the image of the mamma picked up by the image pickup means. Since the mamma is pressed against the body by means of the mamma pressing member (1) and rendered thin, the range of the mamma applied with the pressing face (4) is irradiated thoroughly with light from the light source means (2). Light from the mamma caused by the irradiation light is picked up by the image pickup means (3) and breast carcinoma in the mamma is detected from the image thus picked up. |
