titleOfInvention | Novel cancer-associated genes |
abstract | The present invention is related to a DNA comprising a nucleotide sequencenencoding the following polypeptide (a) or (b):n (a) a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence which is identical ornsubstantially identical with an amino acid sequence represented by SEQnID No.1 or No.2, (b) a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence represented by SEQnID No.1 or No.2 in which part of amino acids are deleted, substituted ornadded, and having substantially the same biological activity as thenfunction of the polypeptide (a). n The present invention is further related to an antibody binding to the polypeptide ornprotein, an anti-cancer agent comprising the antibody, a method of screening ansubstance that binds to the protein or a peptide fragment thereof, and anpolynucleotide having at least 15 bases and hybridizing with the DNA according tonthe present invention under stringent conditions, and a method of detecting cancernwith the use of said polynucleotide. n The DNA according to the present invention is a cancer-associated gene, and that itnis possible to inhibit cancer by blocking the binding of the present protein to itsnligand. Accordingly, the present antibody is used not only in the detection of thenpresent protein, but also as an agent for the treatment or prevention of cancers suchnas prostatic adenocarcinoma and ovarian carcinoma. |
