Thenproperties of the novel bacterium of the present invention allows applications such asnthe in situ remediation of anaerobic contaminated sites. Halogenated compoundsnwhich can be degraded with the bacteria of the present invention include pollutantsnsuch as 1,2-dichloroethane and 1,2-dichloropropane.
