So far, NOx absorbers can only be used in gasoline engines with a high exhaust gas temperature, since the regeneration of the absorber requires a high temperature. By using a metal foil carrier body for the absorption layer and introducing a fuel mixture into the exhaust line, a catalytic oxidation on the absorber and associated temperature increase is achieved, so that a good desorption of the absorber (1) is achieved even when using consumption-optimized internal combustion engines (3). |
