In reacting pentose-1-phosphoric acid with annucleic acid base or a nucleic acid base analogue in annaqueous reaction medium in the presence-of a metal cationnto produce a nucleoside compound, the timing or method ofnaddition of at least one of these components to thenaqueous reaction medium is varied; thereby, a nucleosidencompound can be produced at a high yield efficientlynwithout inviting the high viscosity or solidification ofnthe reaction mixture, even when the above components arenused in such amounts that the reaction mixture becomesnhighly viscous or is solidified when the components arenused without the above variation of the addition timingnor method. Thus, there can be provided a process fornproducing a nucleoside compound, which comprises a stepnof reacting pentose-1-phosphoric acid with a nucleic acidnbase or a nucleic acid base analogue in the presence ofnnucleoside phosphorylase activity, which gives annucleoside compound at an improved conversion, and whichnhas wide applicability. |
