Water treatment by catalytic filtration |
abstract |
In a process for the treatment of water, in particular mineral or table water, a raw water stream containing at least one oxidizable ingredient is fed to a filter material (7) comprising manganese dioxide with a manganese dioxide content of at least 50% by weight, at least part of the at least an ingredient is separated from the raw water flow and retained on the filter material (7) and, after the raw water flow has flowed through the filter material (7), pure water is obtained. The filter material (7) loaded with the ingredient is regenerated after an interruption of the raw water supply with an aqueous solution of an oxidizing agent and then used for the further extraction of pure water from raw water. This prevents the addition of oxidizing agents such as ozone or chlorine to the water to be treated. |
