abstract |
A transgenic plant cell transformed by a Signal Transduction stress-related protein (STSRP) coding nucleic acid, characterized by na) the plant cell expressing the introduced foreign STSRP coding nucleic acid; nb) the plant cell having increased tolerance to drought stress as compared to an untransformed, wild type variety control, and nc) wherein the encodes STSRP is a 14-3-4 protein 1 (14-3-3P-1) as defined in SEQ ID NO: 13 or a polypeptide having at least 90 % sequence identity with SEQ ID NO: 13 over its entire length, nand wherein expression of the STSRP coding nucleic acid in the plant cell results in the plant cell's increased tolerance to drought stress as compared to a wild type variety of the plant cell. |
