titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for making a branch collar in a pipe |
abstract | The forming device has an expansion mandrel (11) which can be pressed into a flange formed by the forming tool (3) from the outside of the pipe using an external drive device, so that the flange is expanded to the same size as the mandrel. During or following the insertion of the forming tool into the flange, the latter can be pressed back into its starting position for a new flange forming cycle. The forming device comprises a body (1) which is insertible into the pipe and a forming tool for generating radial displacement relative to the pipe, the tool having an external diameter which is essentially the same as the desired internal diameter of the flange. An opening or depression (9) in the body is capable of receiving the forming tool. Components (2) are provided which can be connected to a drive device in order to move the forming device towards the outside of the pipe from the inside so that a flange is formed. |
