titleOfInvention Cathode active material coated with a metal oxide for incorporation into a lithium electrochemical cell
abstract An improved cathode material for nonaqueous electrolytenlithium electrochemical cell is described. The preferrednactive material is silver vanadium oxide (SVO) coated with anprotective layer of an inert metal oxide (M x O y ) or lithiatednmetal oxide (Li x M y O z ). The SVO core provides high capacitynand rate capability while the protective coating reducesnreactivity of the active particles with electrolyte tonimprove the long-term stability of the cathode.
