A new cathode design has a first cathode active materialnof a relatively low energy density but of a relatively highnrate capability contacted to a first cathode currentncollector and a second cathode active material having anrelatively high energy density but of a relatively low ratencapability in contact with a second cathode currentncollector, is described. The first and second cathodencurrent collectors are connected to a common terminal lead.nThe present cathode design is useful for powering annimplantable medical device requiring a high rate dischargenapplication. |
