This invention provides a process for producing an epoxyncompound industrially advantageously at low cost in a short process.nFurthermore, this invention provides a novel fruity, camphoric,nfloral, amber or woody fragrance-, flavor- or scent-impartingncomposition containing said epoxy compound, and foods & drinks,nperfumes, cosmetics and tobaccos containing said composition. n In this invention, the epoxy compound can be produced bynletting an a-halocyclododecanone represented by the followingngeneral formula (1)n n(where X 1 denotes chlorine, bromine or iodine) and an organicnmagnesium compound represented by the following general formulan(2)n R 1 MgX 1 n(where R 1 denotes an alkyl group with 1 to 5 carbon atoms, alkenylngroup with 2 to 5 carbon atoms or alkynyl group with 2 to 5 carbonnatoms, and X 1 denotes chlorine, bromine or iodine) react with eachnother for Grignard reaction, hydrolyzing to obtain a halohydrinnrepresented by the following general formula (3) n n(where R 1 denotes an alkyl group with 1 to 5 carbon atoms, alkenylngroup with 2 to 5 carbon atoms or alkynyl group with 2 to 5 carbonnatoms; X 1 denotes chlorine, bromine or iodine; and the wavy linendenotes cis form, trans form or a mixture consisting of cis formnand trans form), and letting the halohydrin and a base react withneach other in the presence of an phase transfer catalyst or addingnan aprotic polar solvent for reaction. |
