titleOfInvention | Seal ring |
abstract | A seal ring which contains a scaly graphite powder essentially alone as a filler, and comprises 2 to 35 wt % of the graphite powder and 65 to 98 wt of a tetrafluoroethylene powder, wherein the graphite powder has an interplanar spacing of 0.335 to 0.340 nm, as measured by the powder X-ray diffraction method, and a size of a crystallite of (004) face of 70 nm or more. The seal ring is reduced in extrusion deformation even during use under a high pressure and is suppressed in the wear of an opposite material even when the material is a soft metal, and thus exhibits a stable sealing effect for a long period of time. Further, it also has a reduced resistance during sliding, which leads to marked improvement in the durability, handlability, response, and mountability. Accordingly, the seal ring is suitable for use in a valve system of a power steering in an automobile and the like, an automatic transmission, a shock absorber and the like. |
