abstract Disclosed is a method for impregnating an object or a substance by bringing it into contact with an aqueous solution containing chloro-oxide and/or peroxide. According to the inventive method, the impregnated materials are provided with disinfectant, oxidating and/or de-odorizing properties. The materials produced according to the inventive method are particularly suitable for use as filter agents for purification operations wherein the medium which is to be purified is to be cleaned from particulate impurities and from microbiological and/or chemical contamination. The inventive method is also suitable for use in the purification of materials.
