abstract | The present invention relates to a process for preparing bromoisophthalic acidncompounds, particularly 5- bromoisophthalic acid compounds and 4,5-dibromoisophthalicnacid compounds comprising brominating an isophthalic acidncompound of the general formula (1)n nwherein R 1 and R 2 independently of one another are hydrogen atom or C 1-6 alkyl, withnbromine in a solvent containing sulfur trioxide. The object of the invention is tonprovide a process for preparing bromoisophthalic acid compounds, particularly 5-bromoisophthalicnacid compounds and 4,5-dibromoisophthalic acid compounds in anhighly selective manner by using bromine that is industrially inexpensive. |
