titleOfInvention Treatment method for preserving cut flowers
abstract The present invention is a treatment method for preserving cutnflowers, which has a dehydration process for removing the tissue water ofncut flowers using a solvent, and a permeation process for lettingnpolyethylene glycol permeate after dehydration, to substitute the solvent bynpolyethylene glycol, characterized in that the dehydration process isneffected while the cut flowers are fixed in a container having a propernamount of a molecular sieve spread over its bottom and filled with ansolvent having a specific gravity smaller than that of water, wherein thenspecific gravity of the solvent is measured to monitor the change of thensolvent in dehydratability, and the time when the specific gravity suddenlynrises is detected as the time for exchanging the molecular sieve for a newnone, to restore the dehydratability of the solvent, thereby allowing thensolvent to be used continuously and allowing the dehydration process to bencontinued without waste of time. n Furthermore, if a washing process for washing the cut flowersncontaining polyethylene glycol as a substitute of the tissue water by ansolvent not containing polyethylene glycol is added, the stickiness of thencut flowers otherwise caused after a drying process can be prevented.
