abstract The present invention relates to a packaging unitndesigned to absorb and/or adsorb liquid that is beingntransported or was spilled or was released. Thenpackaging unit has at least one sealing multi-layerncomprising a first water soluble film and annabsorbent/adsorbent material. When the liquid contactsnthe water soluble film, the liquid passes through thenwater-soluble film. When the liquid contacts thenabsorbent/adsorbent material, the absorbent/adsorbentnmaterial immobilizes the liquid material. Thisnimmobilization prevents the liquid from escaping fromnthe packaging container. Moreover, the invention has anprotection layer and/or a transition cap to allow unitesnto be shipped together.
