A liquid ejection device (1) comprises a flow pathnhaving an ejection orifice (2) and a pressure chamber (5)ncommunicating with each other; a pressure controlnassembly (6) for changing the gas pressure in thenpressure chamber; and an ejection energy-generatingnelement (4) for giving the energy for ejection of anliquid in the flow path through the orifice to thenliquid, wherein the liquid is introduced through thenejection orifice into the flow path by depressurizingnthe pressure chamber by the pressure control assembly.nA carrier preparation apparatus comprises the liquidnejection device; a first driving assembly for drivingnthe pressure control assembly; a second drivingnassembly for driving the ejection energy-generatingnelement; a liquid holding portion (23) for holding thenliquid containing a sample; a carrier holding membernfor holding a carrier for fixing the sample; a movingnmeans (22) for moving the ejection orifice in positionalnrelation to the liquid holding portion and thencarrier holding member; and a position controlnassembly for deciding the position of the ejectionnorifice in the relative movement. |
