titleOfInvention Method and circuitry for controlling and measuring electrical parameters in a biological membrane
abstract The invention relates to a method for controlling and measuringnelectrical parameters in a biological membrane (M) with a measuringncircuitry, wherein capacitances and series resistances of the measuringncircuitry are digitally compensated and wherein the digital compensationnis performed by a computer (PC) connected to the measuring circuitrynvia AD/DA converters (ADC, DAC, DAC1, DAC2), In one embodimentnthe measuring circuitry is an I-V-converter (IVC) connected to anbiological membrane (M). An output of the I-V-converter is connected vianan AD-converter (ADC) to the computer (PC) for analyzing the I-outputnsignal. The computer (PC) calculates a V-input signal being input via anDA-converter (DAC, DAC1) to the measuring circuitry. By analysis of thenoutput signals the electrical characteristics can be calculated andnelectronically compensated so that the entire measuring circuitrynincluding the biological membrane shows the desired frequency/timenresponse and an electrical signal from the membrane (M) and itsnembedded proteins in a biological experiment can be controlled andnmeasured exactly.
