abstract | A water-based ink containing a pigment, a dispersant for dispersing the pigment, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water. The dispersant used is at least one compound selected from the groups (b) and (c): (b) a polymer having a hydrophilic part and a hydrophobic part, the polymer containing, as a monomer making up the hydrophobic part, 5 to 70 mol% of at least one monomer selected from the following formulae (IV) and (V), <CHEM> <CHEM> where R1 i H or CH3 and R2 is an alkyl group with 1 to 5 carbons; and (c) polyethyleneimine. The ink may be used in an apparatus and according to the present ink jet recording method. |
