abstract Apparatus for performing fluorescence detection of two or more biochemical probes and/or fluorescence measurement of fluorescence intensity at two or more spectral bands of light (15) emitted from at leat one spot (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d) on the sample (13). Diffractive optical element (5) separates light (11) from a laser source (10) and polarization controller (7) into multiple excitation beams (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) directed at the sample (13) with mirror (16). Optics (8) and barrier filter (17) simultaneously direct emitted fluorescent light from multiple probes and/or at multiple spectral bands to different spots on a single pixelated detector within detector module (20).
