An optical recording medium having a recordingnlayer which contains at least one compound selectednfrom the group consisting of mono-, di-, andntriazaporphyrin compounds optionally in the form of anmetal complex; or an optical recording mediumncomprising a substrate and formed thereon at least anrecording layer containing an organic dye as a mainncomponent, characterized in that the organic dye has anfirst maximum value of absorption at a wavelength λ1 ofn400 nm or less in the absorption spectrum and has ansecond maximum value of absorption at a longer-wavelengthnside than the λ1, and a wavelength bandnwherein the refractive index (n) and the absorptionncoefficient (k) of the above organic dye satisfy n ≥n1.90 and 0.03 ≤ k ≤ 0.30. |
